Dr. Paytes earned her Bachelor of  Arts in Finance  at the University of Illinois - Urbana\Champaign 

and received her MBA at St. Xavier University.    

Most recently, she obtained her Doctor of Management in Organizational Leadership having completed her dissertation titled:

"Supplier Diversity as a Business Strategy for Competitive Advantage."



Tyra serves as President of Capital Fortitude Business Advisors a boutique management-consulting firm that assists small businesses with access to capital and assists corporations to achieve their bottom line. The firm is also a partner with American Express's "Summit for Success" which provides growth strategies for small to midsize businesses. 

Tyra is also the founder and CEO of Millennium Consultants Group, a niche consulting firm which helps small businesses with their procurement strategies.

Dr. Paytes is also the co-founder of STRATACHIEVE - a social enterprise of like-minded change professionals organized to help solve the challenges of today and tomorrow.



 Dr. Paytes experience includes managing global procurement, supplier diversity and diversity & inclusion training.    

She has served in numerous leadership roles on the Board of Directors for both the Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council (GMSDC) and the Greater Women's Business Council (GWBC).

Dr. Paytes wrote the epilogue in the GMSDC 2016 State of Minority-Owned Businesses: Global Challenges and New Opportunities authored by Dr. Danny Boston CEO of EuQuant and Professor of Economics & 

International Affairs at Georgia Institute of





For her contributions to minority business development, Tyra Paytes has been the recipient of numerous awards including several awards including:

  • GMSDC George Lottier Rising Star,
  • GMSDC Buyer of Year for Information Technology.
  • Institute for Supply Managements - Supplier Diversity Advocate of the Year
  • The Coca-Cola Company Partners in the Promise - Champion of the Year


Dr Paytes Resource-based quantitative dissertation explored the correlation between competitive advantage and supplier diversity spending by answering two questions.

  • Is there a relationship between increased spending with MWBEs and competitive advantage in diverse markets?
  • If there is such a relationship, what is the impact to organizational performance?
